Library Page (volunteer position)
Wednesday evenings, 6-8 p.m.


Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the library director and assistant librarians, the Page shelves materials and assists with basic library services.

Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the library director or assistant librarian, when necessary.


Major Responsibilities:
1.  Shelve materials accurately in numerical and alphabetical order.

2.  Assist in the repair and processing of materials.
3.  Light housekeeping duties.
4.  Provide assistance with the following, if requested by staff:
a. Computer operation and maintenance.
b. Photocopier, fax and other office equipment.
c. Children’s, teens, and adult programming, including prep work.
5.  Other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications

Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Ability to shelve accurately and efficiently. Must possess computer and keyboard knowledge.

Ability and skills: Ability to establish a positive working relationship with library staff and the general public. Communication skills are a must. Must be able to work independently, while also a part of the team.

Physical effort: Position requires standing, sitting and bending for periods of time.

Working Conditions: Typically inside work, but might be outside at times assisting with programs, clean-up of grounds, and other outside duties as may be assigned.
