Summer Happenings for All Ages!

Give a Book! Get a Book!

Each earned book in our summer challenges will also earn a book that will be donated by the library to a program in our community. 

We are excited to partner with Beanstack to offer an online reading and activity program for ALL ages this summer!
June 29th – August 17th

 

  • Have fun reading, completing activities, earning badges and rewards, as well as entering drawings for gift baskets and gift cards from local businesses.
  • Our summer challenge may be accessed online at ellsworthlibrary.beanstack.org  or through the Bean Tracker App on your mobile devices.
  • If you do not have access online or through a mobile device, you may still participate on a paper log. Please call the library at 715-273-3209 to register and find out how to receive your paper log.

Using the Beanstack Tracker App

  • Download the Beanstack app (available through the App Store or Play Store)
  • Select Get Started
  • Does your library already use Beanstack? Select Yup!
  • Type in Ellsworth Public Library
  • Select Don’t Have an Account? Sign Up at the bottom of the screen.
  • Follow the prompts to get yourself and your family members register for the 2020 Summer Reading Challenges
  • Start logging your reading and completing activities

Summer Challenges by Age Group

0-4      Log reading by number of books. Earn a reading badge for every 10 books read. Each earned reading badge rewards you with a grab bag gift. Earn 7 badges to get a book, give a book reward. Each earned activity badge and any reading badge beyond badge 7, earns you an entry to win a Summer Gift Basket.

5-11     Log reading by number of minutes. Earn a reading badge for every hour of reading. Each earned reading badge rewards you with a grab bag gift. Earn 7 reading badges to get a book, give a book. Also, each earned activity badge and any reading badge beyond 7 hours, earns you an entry to win a Summer Gift Basket.

12-18    Log reading by number of minutes. Earn a reading badge for every hour of reading. Each earned reading badge rewards you with an entry to win a gift card from local businesses. Earn 7 reading badges to get a book, give a book. Also, each earned activity badge and any reading badge beyond 7 hours, earns you additional entries into the gift card drawings.

19+     Log reading by number of minutes. Earn a reading badge for every hour of reading. Each earned reading badge rewards you with an entry to win a gift card from local businesses. Story Times with Ms. Caroline on Facebook Live (ages 0-10)

ScienceTeller Science Program (ages 5-15) View online anytime before August 31, 2020.
Since 2004, ScienceTellers has been providing children and their families with fun, experiential science education through the art of interactive storytelling. Explore the exciting science of solids, liquids and gases as we conduct amazing experiments with dry ice in “Dragons Return of the Ice Sorceress” – Discover just how cool matter can be!

Story Walks (all ages) Main Street & East End

The Main Street Story Walk (How to Hide a Lion by Helen Stephens) begins at Denton Achenbach’s State Farm office. It continues up Main Street towards Subway. The last stop on this side of Main is at Buena Farrell Photography. The story continues across the street at the future location of WESTconsin Credit Union and moves down Main Street where it ends at ReMax Results. But the adventure isn’t over – Visit Musty Barnhart Agency to play a game of “I Spy” and submit an answer to a question to be be entered into a basket or gift card drawing.

 

The East End Story Walk (I Took a Walk by Henry Cole) begins at CCF Bank and moves up Broadway towards Joanne Hines agency on Wall Street and then heads back down Broadway to Comforts By Design and finishes around the corner at Brushstrokes and Country Fit. But, again, the adventure isn’t over – Go to Nyeggen Chiropractic for a different game of “I Spy” and another chance to submit an answer to be entered into a gift basket or gift card drawing.
 
Summer Fun Cart Visit our Summer Fun Cart for Grab and Go Activity Kits and other summer fun. Free and available to all. New activities and items added weekly. Please take only one per person per visit. Share pictures of what you make or of yourself enjoying the kits from the cart at eplstaff@ellsworth library.org.
