The Ellsworth and Prescott Public Libraries invite readers to a special Meet the Author event featuring award-winning novelist Allen Eskens on Tuesday, July 14, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. at the Prescott High School Performing Arts Center, 1010 Dexter Street, Prescott.

Eskens will discuss his latest novel, The Quiet Librarian, a gripping blend of mystery, suspense, history, and family drama that has captivated readers nationwide since its publication in February 2025. The novel received the 2026 Minnesota Book Award for Fiction and has earned praise for its compelling story of a woman shaped by war, family, vengeance, and love. Readers who enjoyed books such as The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and The London Bookshop Affair are likely to find much to love in Eskens’s latest work.

Author Christina Kovac, writer of The Cutaway, describes The Quiet Librarian as a “fast-paced, spell-binding mystery, a terrifying war tale, [and] truly fascinating.”

Over the past twelve years, Eskens has published ten acclaimed novels. While The Quiet Librarian and Saving Emma stand alone, many of his other books feature interconnected characters, allowing readers to follow different storylines throughout his body of work. His debut novel, The Life We Bury, introduced readers to the compelling storytelling that has become his trademark.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Eskens discuss his background in criminal law and how it has influenced his writing, listen to readings from his work, and participate in a question-and-answer session.

Hudson-based independent bookstore Chapter2Books will be on site with copies of The Quiet Librarian, Saving Emma, The Guise of Another, and The Life We Bury available for purchase and signing.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
